Have you ever had a flash in your mind of someone else’s experience? Tonight Neil spoke to the young man that hit me on Monday. I have been praying for him all week, he hit me so hard that I was worried about him being ok. Here is his story (and what I saw) Picture this:

Driving down hwy 99 going “50-ish”. The car in front of you gets over into the next lane, you speed up to try to get in the lane to the left also. (*now going more than 50-ish) You hit what you describe as a “Dip” in the road and loose control. Your rear end slides out to the side as you see a Jeep in the lane in front of you. Your rear end slams into the rear passenger side of the jeep (here is where I could have sworn I saw his front end, and it looked like he was going Over me!)  After hitting the jeep (remember you are going a little over 50-ish) you slam into the sidewalk and then your front end hits the rock wall on the side of the road (Lynnwood’s Cycle Barn). Still spinning, you finally come to a stop facing the front of the Jeep. Realizing you can’t open your door, you climb out of the window to talk to the waiting man, who you think was the passenger of the Jeep. (this man was a very nice man that happened to see this and came right over, after calling 911 to make sure everyone was ok-I was alone, it wasn’t Neil)

This is his story mixed with mine. Now we know a little more and I know why I could see his front end in my rear view after he hit me. I am thankful that he is ok and that he hit me with his rear end. going as fast as he was, hitting me with his front would have seriously hurt him. I was so relieved when he was talking to Neil and said that although he is sore, like me, he is fine.

AND, I am very thankful that he has insurance. He already has someone working on the claim. We are hoping that since our jeep and his car are in the same tow yard, that they have already looked at our jeep. We will know that tomorrow.

Thank you for your prayers and well wishes, it has meant the world to me!

That’s all folks

Monday, on my way to work, sitting at a dead stop, I got rear ended by an older bodystyle Jetta. He was going fast enough that he broke my rear axel and my rear windshield. After hitting me, his car slammed up against a rock wall and ended up in front of me, facing me. His car has much more damage than mine, but to think that a little Jetta totalled my Jeep, it’s pretty amazing! Luckily, it was just me (and the baby) in the car. I went to the hospital in an aid car on a backboard. Xrays showed that I was fine and they sent me to be admitted on the maternity floor. There, we spent 4 hours being monitored. Everything came out fine, thankfully! The officer gave Neil the name and address of the guy that hit me, when Neil stopped to take pictures on the way to the hospital. I don’t want to think about the visit that the poor guy would have recieved from several people, if anything would have happened. Thankfully we are both fine.

More than I can say for the Jeep, it’s totalled! We are going to sign it over to the tow yard tomorrow, since they are charging us $39.00 a day. We wont get the guys insurance info (if he has any) before the tow company decides to just take the car and charge us anywa, so we are just giving it to them. Oh well, after resting today I am back to work tomorrow. I am thankfull for my desk job right now!

Here is my Jeep and the car that hit me.

Happy New Year!

1 Jan

I hope everyone had a happy and safe New Years Eve celebration! We went to my parents house and spent the time with our family, it was a nice quiet evening! I used to want so much more out of New Years than quiet and rest, but this was nice. Kaeden hasn’t been feeling good and I am exhausted! I’ve spent some time reflecting on the year, it wasn’t such a bad one! But a lot happened!

2008 was a year of snow, I think that is how I will remember it. We had freak snow in April and then so much snow in December that it set records and trapped people at home! We had a white Christmas thanks to it, but it would have been nice if it weren’t so excessive! We also elected a new President of the United States this year! It was a crazy race both for the democratic nomination down to the election itself!

Kaeden had a good year! He is 2! He spent this year learning to use his imagination and figuring out new words. His vocabulary is now too long to list here! He is a talker, like his mommy! All of his checkups this year went good! He has seen his Orthopedist (Dr. White)  and Geneticist (Dawn Earl), his Nephrologist (Dr. Okamura), his Cardiologist (Dr. Stamm)  and of course his pediatrician (Dr Susan Carter). All check ups went well, his pediatrician is impressed with his humor and whit. He wowed her by taking her stethoscope and listing to her heart! His heart is continuing to heal, I pray that some day it will close and we will no longer have to sit in the office while interns file in to listen to his mummer. It is a learning experience for them, but I would rather he not have one to listen to! His kidney is doing great! He layed on the table for his ultrasound and this was probably the only time this year he wasn’t all wiggly. The tech was very impressed with him and his patience for her pushing on his belly. The Geneticist helped me make sure he made it to all of his appointments this year, although I have yet to reschedule his hearing appointment. He remembered all of her tools from last year and once again took her hammer and started banging on everyone’s knees! He ran around the room in his diaper and showed off how well he is moving, giving the limitations he has in his cervical spine. His orthopedist reviewed his newest films and told us that he has a floating bone at the top of his cervical spine, on top of all the “gobble-de-gook” that is his neck. So, Kaeden can’t do somersaults or tumbling (which eliminates him being a gymnist!) He recommended he see a Neurologist to follow up on that little floater, which may need to be removed some day. Which brings us to the exciting part 🙂 Kaeden finally had the cyst on the back of his head removed! It was nerve wracking for Neil and I, but turned out very well! I wont go into depth, but I wrote about it in October if you want a recap! Dr. Avellino is the Neurosurgeon that assisted in his surgery and the one that followed up with the floater. He said that everything looks good and that we will keep an eye on it…that is the story of our lives! Other than that, Kaeden strengthened his love of Dinosaurs this year, played with friends, rides his trike, goes to daycare a couple hours a week, swings and slides at the park and throws the classic 2 year old tantrum. I would say that this year was full of fun and laughter for Kaeden and his parents!

Neil is back in school, which is working out well! He is working on computer aided drafting which, combined with his A&P, will help him get a great job in several exciting industries! I have been working this year, someone has to! I started the year at Media and recently started at Premera Blue Cross in their Nasco Provider Relations group. I am really enjoying my time there.

As a family we spent a lot of good times together this year! As well as spending quality time with our friends and family. Neil’s brother Cameron came up from Missouri for a while and crashed on our couch for a week, that was great! (there’s an earlier posting about that too!) We helped welcome 2 new people to the world when our friends Shawna and Rob had TWIN boys in June! AND….we will be welcoming our own new person in 2009! Thank you for keeping up with my blog this year, when I updated it! I will try to keep the updates coming! At least in May,  can promise that there will be updates 🙂 Thanks to all our friends and family for being in our lives and helping us make it day to day!

My resolution this year is very similar to every year. I resolve to wake up every morning and focus on being the Best LesaI can be. The best mommy to our kids, the best companion to Neil, the best daugher/sister/grandaughter/niece/cousin, friend, Christian and member of society that I can be! I will not be perfect this year, not even near to perfect, but I will be the best I can be.

My wish for my loved ones this year is a happy, healthy, prosperous year. I pray that 2009 will be the best year yet for everyone! Thank you for being…..well, just thank you for being 🙂 HAPPY NEW YEAR!
